The video installation critically examines contemporary social, political, and ecological paradigms, seeking to awaken individual consciousness and provoke reflection on urgent future transformations. Berlin, a city that persistently questions prevailing models—both through public demonstrations and private gestures—provides the ideal setting for this discourse. The work addresses the enduring transmission of false paradigms as truths, emphasizing the necessity of a critical perspective. It challenges post-colonial white societies that, despite being labeled as “developed,” sustain economic inequalities, exploit vulnerable populations, and deplete environmental resources. Technological advancements, often framed as instruments of social equality, paradoxically serve to reinforce outdated ideologies, blinding us to the pressing realities of climate change, the ongoing refugee crisis, and the alarming rise of far-right movements such as Germany’s Alternative für Deutschland, which threatens democratic and human rights, including those of the LGBTQ+ community.
Presented as a video installation, the work constructs a three-dimensional environment where moving images and mantra-like sounds immerse the viewer, fostering introspection and self-awareness. It unfolds in two distinct phases: initially, a performance featuring blindfolded figures gradually shifts the observer’s perspective, making them feel implicated in the unfolding action. This is disrupted by sudden flashes of distorted, inverted imagery—negative imprints of an alien reality—culminating in total darkness. This interplay of sensory elements generates unease, encouraging open-ended interpretation while underscoring our collective responsibility for shaping the future. Rather than presenting fixed narratives, the installation invites viewers to confront their role in societal transformation.
