Alexandre Liberato is pleased to present "COURAGE NOT TO FIGHT," a solo exhibition at his STUDIO/GALLERY in Friedrichshain, Berlin, running from September 12 to 15, 2024, during Berlin Art Week. This exhibition presents a series of twelve new interdisciplinary artworks that explore the intricate relationships between masculinity, vulnerability, and transformation through painting, textile art, and sculpture.

At the core of the exhibition is a redefinition of strength—not through dominance or conflict, but through introspection, care, and emotional openness. The title, "COURAGE NOT TO FIGHT," embodies this concept, urging a reconsideration of what it means to be resilient. Liberato employs materials such as acrylics, natural pigments, and sewing techniques to create richly textured works that invite tactile engagement and reflection. His large-scale pieces, like "Men Are Made for War," challenge traditional narratives of masculinity, captivating viewers with their layered surfaces and evocative themes, fostering both visual and emotional connections.

A special feature of the exhibition is the darkroom projection of the video "SEWING AS A METAPHOR OF CARE," filmed and edited by Filippo M. Ceredi. This video offers an intimate insight into Liberato’s creative process, where sewing becomes a symbol of care and connection. Each stitch marks a moment of quiet dedication, reflecting the artist's commitment to his practice and the passage of time. The film reveals the unseen labor behind the works, emphasizing the delicate balance between vulnerability and creation, and inviting viewers to engage deeply with the underlying themes of the exhibition, enhancing their understanding of the intricate connections between material, time, and emotional resonance.

Liberato’s approach is one of meticulous layering and synthesis, in which every stitch and colored stain carries weight and significance. The interplay between the manual and the abstract, the visible and the hidden, invites viewers to uncover the deeper narratives woven into each piece.
